Fish/Plants
Chuck, please run me thru the steps to over winter my water lillies(tropical). Do you cut off the leaves before you bag them? Does it matter if bag is black or white? Do I take them out of their pots? Do I use damp sand? Help? email is etaylor@hotmail.com
I have 5 Koi in my pond of around 2700 gallons. My pump has been out for 36 hrs. I am trying to get someone out to fix or replace it. How long can my fish survive without the water recirculating.
What is the best price you got on some live pond fish to put outside in my pond? I am in the area I can stop by.
We have crawfish in our pond and I have noticed that they seem to be eating all of the pond plants that I have recently purchased to go into the water. Is there a good way to get rid of the crawfish without harming the fish and what is left of the plants?
Ponds
I have a lot of algae in my pond and I heard about some light you could use for that but the ones I have found are too big for my small pond and I really don't want to pay $150.00, Do you have any for the small ponds and what are the prices? By small I mean, less than 2 feet deep in the highest point.
Hi: We have recently relocated here, and we have a pond(tub lined) in our back yard. The pump has shut off. I don't have any knowledge or experience with the operation, or maintenence of ponds. Is it possible for you or someone to come to my home for consulting to help me understand it, to take care of it? We would like to keep it if possible. Thank You for your time and any help. Brad H.
I have a 300 gallon pond with two pumps in it with fountains attached and we are having a horrible algea problem on the sides and bottom of pond. I treat the pond with Algea destroyer and algea fix. I don't know what else to do fish keep dying on me. Any advice would help!
What kind of liners do you recommend for a custom pond?
When the "experts" talk about pond temperature is it high low or average temperature? Are there other factors beside temperature that determine koi hibernation? gerald severeid
I think I have a leak in my pond. About every four days I am having to add water as the filtering bucket is dry and the water level is low. Can you tell me if I am suppose to see moisture anywhere around my pond to indicate where the leak is?? Can you recommend someone to look at it and repair it? And is this a costly undertaking??
I own a Landscape Co. in NJ and am involved in designing a custom water fountain. I would like to know where I can buy the Pre-cast walls that you show in some of your designs. In addition, how do I seal-up the interior walls to make them watertight. One more thing, what is the best form of filtration/UV light set-up for fountain applications with no fish/plants. Please email me back: marrinerb@hotmail.com Thank you very much... Bryan
I am looking for a rock lid for my skimmer. Do you carry artificial rock lids? Also, I am always looking for quality butterfly koi. Thank You, Jonathan
I have a homemade pond for a turtle, it is a little plastic swimming pool, we put a plug in the bottom so I can rinse it out. My question is what kind of pump/filter can I use to help keep it from getting so green?
I have a 1000 gallon fish pond in my front yard. Since the middle of winter I have had the worst algae I've ever had or seen. It got so bad that 2 weeks ago I completely drained my pond, cleaned it real good, added algae fix and for about 5 or 6 days the pool was clean. The algae has come back and is to the point that you can hardly see my fish thru the green water. Algaecide dosen't work. I also added 8oz. of Ecofix Sunday and have been trying to keep the sides scrubbed down and the filter clean. I have a weeping willow that hangs over the pond and it sheds real bad, so I'm out there almost every day dipping leaves and some little fuzzy things out. Do you have any suggestions? how do i find a leak my water is going down so far and stopping
Chuck, My husband and I have a pond that is just green with algae. He is looking for some Japanese Trapdoor snails. We've only had luck finding them on the internet. Do you know where we could find them locally in Birmingham or somewhere close by? My email address is keytoe@juno.com
I am a site coordinator at an elementary school and I would like to build an aquatic garden here at the school. Is there a garden that is easy maintance. I want the children to see and experience fish, aquatic plants and frogs. Is there a way I can do it without major upkeep.
I have a Bioforce 2000 (1304) filter and I'm told by the company to contact Aquatic Gardens for a replacement tub? It cracked over winter. Jwilliam161@gmail.com
Do you still sell a product named D-SOLV? It is a oxygen powered cleaner which we purchased from you last fall. It worked well on our ponds and we need another bottle. If you do not have it(not listed on your pond supply page)what could be substituted?
Do u have any pictures or ideas about residential coy ponds looking for small waterfall with a deep good size pond "first one" kaaron3785@charter.net
Waterfalls
I have a relatively small pond with a waterfall. It is something I put together myself. The bottom pond is about two hundred gallons and I have a 20 gallon container approximately seven feet higher that I use for a waterfall. I am faced with replacing the pump for the waterfall about every two years. I have just been buying one from a local home improvement store. I have fish and plants in the pond; therefore, the pump has to contend with a good bit of debris while running 24/7. I really don't enjoy replacing the pump. Any suggestions about what I might do/purchase so that I don't have to replace pumps as often?
The rocks that form our waterfall get a very thick buildup of orange/rust color slime on them. Is this from the iron in our water and what can I do to prevent it other than scraping the slime off periodically?
Recirculating waterfall constructed of natural stacked stone located in mostly shady spot under sunroom. Water feature built as part of bluestone patio. Water ciruclates 24/7 through river rock. No pond. Birds and wildlife are frequent visitors. What can I use to remove dark green thin slime that builds up on stones in contact with water. Have turned purmp off several times and scrubbed off what I could into bath towels. Just comes back. Don't want to harm critters. Live in Arlington VA. Any suggestions appreciated!
